Right Brain Business Planning

For most of us right brain creative spirits business planning can be a real chore. I've created many in my day having an administrative and project management background but I can tell you, while I succeeded with it on many levels I never found them to be particularly useful once done. Shoved in a binder - never to be looked at again.

This summer I came across Jennifer Lee's book and website, 'The Right Brain Business Plan - A Creative Visual Map for Success'. It was perfect timing as I re-evaluate my life and life's work in preparation for my birthday and new year usually in August. It sounded fun, creative and like a helpful tool so I decided to give it a go.

I must say it was quite an enjoyable process. Jennifer offers many suggestions and real-life examples of various ways of creating a workable and valuable plan. Since I've enjoyed making a few scrapbooks in the past I decided to go with that approach. Here are some pictures of what I created...

My Vision

The envelope contains my Top Ten Values

My Top Ten Values can be taken out and reviewed
These images represent a lifestyle I desire to live
This sheet sums up the Business Landscape - Trends etc.
These two are Business Self Portrait & Ideal Clients
Some Service Offerings
You get the idea - there are other pages with short and long-term goals and projects, scheduling, mission statement etc. Everything needed in a business plan and the best part of this is I can keep this by my desk and review it regularly to inspire me and keep me focused rather than a lengthy, wordy document that will barely be looked at again! Now, this is not something you would hand in to a bank or financial planner but Jennifer Lee shows you how to do all that and has free tips and tools on her website to help you. Please make sure to check her website out.

I thought I'd share some of mine with you - perhaps it will inspire you to create the business and life of your dreams!

Many blessings,
Kiernan
