Do You Know How to Power Yourself Up?

When we are born we are naturally imbued with the power of our own life force – our soul essence, which contains the vitality, courage, strength, focus and energy that will enable us to live life to the fullest.

During our early childhood we live fully in the now expressing who we are at any given moment; playing, laughing, crying, screaming, resting – we’re saying either ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ to people and situations given our present mood.

But as we grow older the stresses and pressures of everyday living often cause our soul power to drain away or become unstable. Experiences that instil negative beliefs about ourselves that cause us to feel unworthy, unlovable or unwanted depletes our soul essence even further.

When our power is low, we are vulnerable physically, emotionally and spiritually, and we feel separated from reality, from loved ones, from the world and even ourselves.  Often we act out, we try to find something or someone to blame because we don’t know what’s missing or how to go about finding ‘it’.

Our self-esteem and self-confidence is lost. Maybe we’re even suffering from chronic fatigue or pain.

A temporary revitalization of our personal energy can be experienced when we engage in some form of self-care like a healing session, a massage, taking some vitamins etc. But, unless we undertake to reconnect with and build our soul power on a regular and consistent basis our energy will continue to leak and drain away.

Here are some tips to help you build your soul power back up to more optimal levels.

Daily Self-Care
Your life force or soul essence is the part of you that is eternal and your physical body is the temple where your soul currently resides. It is important to take care of this sacred temple by keeping it clean (inside and out), strong and healthy. Think of traditions that honour and pay their respect to the God/desses, Saints and Saviours – we adorn their altars with fruit, vegetables, herbs, flowers, grains – not fast or junk food. Take stock of what food you eat, when and why then begin to replace unhealthy items with clean, local and organic choices. Ask yourself if you are really hungry or if you are trying to fill a void in your life.

Rest when needed, incorporate some form of exercise in your daily routines, get regular doses of sunshine and air, and find a healthy way to express your emotions.

Setting Boundaries
This is such an important one that has a huge effect on our self-esteem and our soul power! Every time we say ‘Yes’ to something we’d really rather say ‘No’ to it drains our energy and we lose our self-respect, the respect of people we care about or those with whom we work with or would like to work or partner with in some way.

Healthy self-esteem and soul power increases by honouring your Truth. Know what your Truth is, speak it and live it.

Taking Responsibility
Stop playing the blame game and reclaim your inner soul power. Being the victim or martyr is a form of self-deception and nothing will keep you stuck in the muck better than blaming everyone and everything else for your problems or not fulfilling your heart’s desires. Whining and complaining, out – taking responsibility and action, in.

Discovering Passion
We all have it! We all have something that lifts our spirits, brings a smile to our face, nourishes our heart – find it and make sure to weave it into your daily, or at the very least weekly schedule. If you don’t know what ‘it’ is make it a priority to try new things, ask your soul to steer things in your direction that will spark your interest and ultimately lead you to saying, ‘YES!’ Sometimes, our passion can come hidden in disguise – so pay attention to things that make you uncomfortable or resist, it may just be ‘the thing’ that will power you up.

Look for the Gift
The champion of positive thinking, Norman Vincent Peale used to say, “When God wants to send you a gift, he wraps it up in a problem. The bigger the gift that God wants to send you, the bigger the problem he wraps it in.”

Instead of concentrating on the problem, look for the gift – you will always find it.  Maintaining a positive attitude in any situation will raise your energy and create a leader out of you.

Gratitude
Science tells us that an ‘attitude of gratitude’ is a good health choice. Being more grateful more often makes us happier and more optimistic. Gratitude strengthens our soul power. It also helps us attract what we want, improves our relationships, reduces negativity, improves our problem-solving skills, and helps us learn.

Incorporate Spirit Wellness
Many people including those who have taken the path of healing from wounds of infidelity, abuse, alienation, loneliness, abandonment, exploitation, addictions have gained knowledge, awareness, tools, skills, and still have an inner longing for a deeper love connection that seems to be eluding them in their significant and intimate relationship. What is missing is Spirit.

This is a vital connection necessary to increase and maintain your soul power, after all it is your soul power – your soul essence, it is within you. Learn to build your connection to the true source within, listen to it, honour it and act upon it. Adopting a spirit-centred life is necessary to feel peace, balance, joy, and love regardless of what is going on around you.

Aligning with Your Purpose
We were all born with an innate and unique soul purpose, which when unlocked and activated is the most rewarding and fitting ‘work’ we could ask for. Most people select careers, jobs, and/or businesses for all the wrong reasons and end up feeling unfulfilled, uninspired, until it becomes unsustainable and often unbearable. In other words, it drains our soul power because we are not in alignment with what we came here to do. We’re not in alignment with the natural gifts, skills and talents we were born with and destined to express in the world.

Discover and unleashing your Soul Purpose is one of the fastest ways to build your soul power – increase your life force energy. When you’re living your purpose everything improves; your health, relationships, finances, joy and love of life.

Mentor's Challenge:  Pick one of the tips I shared above and try it on for one week. Let me know if you noticed any changes. Shifting one behaviour can shift a lot of other things.

May you fulfill your heart's desires, sing your soul song and dance your soul dance!
